The optical properties of glass together with its' electrical properties are used in a variety of applications. These can be parts for lamps, television tubes and X-Ray tubes but also for electron microscopes and night viewers.

One of these applications are glass-metal electric 'feedthroughs' used for instance in electron microscopes in between a high vacuum environment and the normal atmosphere. Louwers also produces components for optical purposes like light guides, glass bodies and housings, lenses, mirrors and prisms.
