(PETRO/BIO-) CHEMICAL

Louwers understands the requirements in these markets: high chemical resistance of the glass type and resistance against considerable temperature shocks. The thermal coefficient of expansion in combination with the wall thickness determines if a type of glass is resistant against temperature alterations. One of the glass types Louwers often uses in these demanding environments is Duran borosillicate glass which is well known for its' high resistance against temperature changes and its' low thermal expansion coefficient.
The design and development of Technical Glass products for (bio and petro) chemical applications requires thorough knowledge of the applications in this field. Our value added is that Louwers Glass and Ceramic Technologies can assist and advise on pressure calculations and the possibilities and limitations of the various types of technical glass (for instance with regard to safety issues). Our own engineering department can also assist in transferring a design or a preliminary drawing into a technical drawing (based on glass techniques) with defined measurement and tolerances by means of our own CAD/CAM systems. At Louwers we like to work closely together with our customers in realizing the best solution.

One area of increasing interest in especially the bio industry is the so-called 'Lab on Chip' technology (especially in DNA R&D). Louwers Glass and Ceramic Technologies and its' engineers operate on the forefront of these new developments in offering practical solutions in this exciting new area like ultra precision ceramic and glass micro channel devices. Our own engineering department can also assist in transferring a design or a preliminary drawing into a technical drawing (based on glass techniques) with defined measurement and tolerances by means of our own CAD/CAM systems. At Louwers we like to work closely together with our customers in realizing the best solution.
