HIGH VACUUM GLASS VALVES
For more than 4 decades, Louwers has been supplying high vacuum glass valves [also called 'stop cocks'] for many different applications worldwide.

OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE WITHOUT COMPROMISE
The different Louwers glass valves [also called 'stop cocks'] are both used for numerous R&D&E projects as for various regular [high volume] production purposes. Both manually operated and automated valves are available in different sizes and volumes. The automated Louwers glass valve is also known as the 'Vacutap'.

Highly recognized and leading institutes and laboratories exclusively use Louwers' portfolio of glass valves because of their optimum performance:

  • High durability
  • Superior reliability
  • Ultimate product consistency
Even in the most demanding High Vacuum environments, Louwers' glass valves offer very precise, reliable, and reproducible actuation as well as unique vacuum performance. Shortly summarized, the Louwers high vacuum glass valves offer optimum performance without compromise

MEETING THE HIGHEST QUALITY STANDARDS
All of Louwers' glass valves are produced using only the highest grade of borosilicate materials as available in the market [i.e. Duran® materials from Schott]. With state of the art production techniques, micrometer precision housings and pistons/spindles are produced at the Louwers facilities.

As a direct result of the high dimensional accuracies of both the glass housings and the glass pistons, in combination with very high quality surface finishes and specially prepared Viton O-rings, valve operation only requires moderate forces, manually or automated.

The fluorcarbon Viton® O-rings are characterized by high tensile strength and excellent high vacuum compatibility. With proven high resistance against oils, benzene's, hydrocarbons, alcohol's, acids, chlorinated solvents and water at temperatures up to 200 °C. For lubricating purposes, the Viton® O-rings are specially treated with a chemical substance which is resistant to alkalis, air, nitrogen, hydrochloric and other acids, ammonia, and gaseous hydrocarbons.

Furthermore, the substance is insoluble in aqueous solutions such as alcohol and low molecular ketones, esters, amines, hydrocarbons, benzol deviates, etc do not disperse it. As an alternative, also Kalrez® perfluor elastomer O-rings can be provided for special applications. Also for special applications, quartz housings and/or pistons can be supplied.

LOUWERS SUPPLIES A WIDE RANGE OF HIGH VACUUM GLASS VALVES
Basically, Louwers can provide any valve design as needed. Some product standards have been developed for 9mm, 12mm, and 16mm applications. Both for one-way and two-way concepts. All products can be used at temperatures between -30 °C and +200 °C and pressures down to 10[-8] Torr. Durablility studies have shown that the leakage of the Louwers glass valves is typically less than 10[-10] Torr.l/sec, even after 6,000 full range pistons movements.
